2010-2011 Homeless Education Data Collection Updates

  • A notice was sent to homeless liaisons and posted on the NCHEP website when the NC DPI data collection system was reopened for collecting 2010-2011 homeless education data. Review NCHEP's Getting Ready for Data Collection tips.
  • NCHEP will be sending regular notices about data collection to local liaisons throughout the data collection process.
  • LEAs/Charter Schools, please make sure you are entering your 2010-2011 homeless education data; the final deadline for data entry is July 29, 2011.

2011-2014 Subgrant Competition

  • The deadline for submitting a North Carolina McKinney-Vento subgrant application was March 15, 2011.
  • NCHEP has received all subgrant applications and made award recommendations to the North Carolina State Board of Education (SBE)
  • SBE made final approvals of subgrant award recipients during its June 2011 Board meeting.
  • NCHEP notified applicants of their award status in June 2011.
  • NCHEP will be offering a webinar for all North Carolina subgrant recipients in August 2011. The webinar will provide information about uploading budget information into BUDS, subgrant recipient responsibilities, subgrant implementation strategies, and acceptable usages of subgrant funds. Additional information about the webinar, including the date, time, and registration instructions, will be distributed via e-mail.
  • McKinney-Vento subgrant recipients will receive their award funding in August 2011.

Homeless Liaison Forums (formerly Compliance Meetings)

  • Compliance meetings have been changed to Homeless Liaison Forums
  • Forums meet the requirement for attending compliance meetings
  • Notices of meetings are sent directly to the homeless liaison
  • All meetings are scheduled within one hour of a district
